Neuro Electrophysiology Lab

PATCH CLAMP/ ELECTROPHYSILOGY LAB
Patch Clamp technique is a technique in electrophysiology that allows the study of individual ion channels in cells. The technique is used to study excitable cells such as neuros, muscle fibers. Several variations of the basic techniques can be applied, depending on what the researcher wants to study. It can be divided in four techniques:
  • Cells-attached patch
  • Inside-out patch
  • Outside-out patch
  • Whole-cell recording
This lab was used NPI system series systems for extracellular and intracellular recording systems. Single-electrode current - and voltage - clamp systems are used . The amplifiers used recordings for tight-seal perforated patch, or whole-cell recording techniques.
