Malaysian Brain Bee Challenge (MBBC)

Malaysian Brain Bee Challenge (MBBC), formerly known as BrainBee@USM (BBU), is a neuroscience competition for secondary students since 2012 in conjunction with the International Brain Bee (IBB). BrainBee@USM has successfully crowned two Malaysia representatives in 2012 (to IBB Cape Town, South Africa) and in 2013 (to IBB Vienna, Austria). This year, MBBC has gone nationwide with the collaboration from Universiti Utara Malaysia (the North Zone) and University of Malaya (the Central Zone) in addition to the USM MBBC Secretariat (East Zone MBBC).

ABOUT INTERNATIONAL BRAIN BEE
The International Brain Bee is a not-for-profit neuroscience competition for high school students. Directed by founder Dr. Norbert Myslinski of the University of Maryland, the Brain Bee is an attempt to motivate students to learn about the brain, to capture their imaginations, and to inspire them to pursue careers in biomedical brain research.

INTERNATIONAL BRAIN BEE (IBB) AND USM
Universiti Sains Malaysia has been given the honour to choose one Malaysian school student to take part in the prestigious International Brain Bee competition.
USM’s deputy vice-chancellor (Industry and Community Network) Prof See Ching Mey said the university was asked by the competition’s chairman Prof Norbert Myslinski of the University of Maryland.  This will be the first time Malaysia will compete with other countries in the neuroscience competitition for high school students.
The competition is aimed at motivating students to learn about the brain, to capture their imagination and to inspire them to pursue careers in biomedical brain research. There are currently about 70 local Brain Bee coordinators worldwide who conduct the competition annually.
